The Escort started production in Britian in 1968 and was the replacement for the very popular Anglia. It was a rear wheel drive and available in 2 door Sedan, 3 door Estate and also as a van. Stages of production came in the form of the Mk1 (1968-1975), Mk2 (1975-1980), Mk3 (1980-1990). and Mk4 (1990-2000). Also during the Mk3 & Mk4 cycles various facelifts were also available. Engine sizes ranged from 1.0L, 1.3L, 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L. The "Escort" badge has also applied to several different designs over the years to Ford Cars in North America.
